Ilagan City gov't to honor outstanding corn farmers

The city government of Ilagan will honor outstanding corn farmer Ilageunos as one of the lined-up activities for the Mammangi Festival 2016.

The Department of Agriculture (DA) declared last year the city of Ilagan as the corn capital of the Philippines for posting huge harvest of corn.

The week-long Mammangi (corn farmer) Festival will officially start on May 25 where the trade fair will be opened in front of the city hall followed by the opening of the demonstration farm at the Cagayan Valley Research Center at barangay Aliabgu.

This year's Mammangi (corn farmer) festival carries the theme "Sulong Pa More" to encourage Ilaguennos to push for more development.

Aside from recognizing outstanding corn farmers, the city government will also recognize individuals and business establishments who are paying the right taxes and several others engaged in various fields. (PNA)
