Isabela government grants lots to informal settlers

Hundreds of families here who are regarded as informal settlers will soon own the lots which they are occupying for twenty years now as Isabela Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz has already approved in principle their request for ownership of the said lands.
The lots are located at barangay Bagumbayan, an area owned by the local government of Ilagan. The LGU-Ilagan will also sponsor the titling of the lots to be awarded to the informal settlers. They will soon be obliged to pay minimal monthly amortizations until the lot price has totally been paid.
Bagumbayan barangay captain Danilo Toribio said the settlers requested for the intervention of the barangay officials who endorsed their request to the office of the mayor.
Meanwhile, recipients continue to thank the local government and are expecting that the titles will soon be handed to them. But, Toribio said the informal settlers have yet to wait for the formal approval and the needed legislations to legalize their ownership. (PIA)
