Union of cooperatives runs on October 29

On Saturday, October 29, Parañaque's union of cooperatives will hold a 'Koop Fun Run' starting at 4:00 a.m. at SM City Sucat.

The fun run is led by the Parañaque City Union of Cooperatives, Parañaque Federation of Credit Cooperatives, and Unified Marketing Services Cooperative of Fishermen's Wharf in cooperation with the city government of Parañaque and the Parañaque Cooperative Development Council.

"The cooperative movement continues to touch the lives of citizens, make businesses prosper and contribute to the development of the city," said Parañaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe.

Bernabe called on residents to take part in the activity to support of local coops, help save the environment, and promote healthy lifestyle.

Sponsored by Petronas Lubricants and Airlift Asia Services Employees MPC, the fun run is part of the activities in line with the city's celebration of Cooperative Month this October.

Inspired by the themes "Transformative Cooperatives: Advancing People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace" and "Kooperatiba: Sama-sama sa Pagkandili ng Kalikasan," the fun run is open to coop and non-coop members between 18-65 years of old and physically fit.

The run is divided in two categories: 3k for women and 5k event for men.

Interested parties may register at the Escuela De San Dionisio, San Dioniso Credit Cooperative Main Bldg in Brgy. San Dioniso, Parañaque Federation of Credit Cooperatives in Brgy. San Isidro, and
Unified Marketing Service Cooperative of Parañaque Fishermen's Wharf in Brgy. La Huerta.

Registration fee and schedule are as follows: Up to October 22: For Parañaque cooperatives: member of any secondary coop – P250 per participant; non-member of any secondary coop – P350.

From October 23, including on-site registration: For Parañaque coops: member – P350; non-member – P450. For non- Parañaque coops: member – P450; non-member – P500.

Meanwhile, for non-Parañaque coops: member P300; non-member P400.
Petronas products, trophies, medals plus cash prizes await the winners.

For 5k men's category first prize winner will get P3,000 cash; second prize winner, P2,500, P1,500 for the third prize winner; P1,000 fourth prize winner; and P500 for the fifth prize winner.

Under the 3k women's category: first prize winner will get a cash prize of P2,500 ; second prize winner at P2,000; third prize winner, P1,500; P1,000 awaits the fourth prize winner; and the fifth prize winner will get P500 in cash.

Aside from the fun run, coop seminars will also be held at the Forum Hall of PAGCOR Casino Filipino Parañaque.

The seminar schedules are: Leadership and Values Re-orientation (October 12-13); Basic Bookkeeping and Accounting for Non-Accountants (October 19-21); Conflict Management (November 10-11), Records Management (November 17-18), and Cooperative Management and Governance (Nov 24-25).

Likewise, a Cooperative Congress will also be held at PAGCOR on October 28. (PIA)
