Comelec official voter's registration 'deactivated'

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez will not be able to vote in the May 13, 2013 midterm polls after his registration has been deactivated.
He said that upon checking online, he found out that he can not vote in the forthcoming polls.
"Registered voter pero yung records ko pag tiningnan mo sa precinct finder deactivated, nadeactivate ako," the Comelec official added.
He said that his registration has been deactivated after he failed to vote in the May 10, 2010 national and local polls and the October 2010 barangay polls.
Under the law, a registered voter will be deactivated if he/she failed to participate in two consecutive elections.
He noted that he was not able to apply for the local absentee since he was busy preparing for the overseas absentee voting.
However, Jimenez said that he would want to participate in the May 2016 national and local elections, as he intends to apply for the reactivation of his registration.
Meanwhile, newly appointed poll body Commissioner Atty. Luie Guia took his oath of office with Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes on Wednesday afternoon.
The new poll body official is set to attend his first en banc session on Thursday.
Guia together with Atty. Al Parreno were appointed by President Benigno Aquino III to the position replacing former Commissioners Rene Sarmiento and Armando Velasco who both retired in February. (PNA)
