Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima Monday officially dropped former police Senior Supt. Cezar Mancao II from the Witness Protection Program (WPP).
According to De Lima, she has signed Monday afternoon the documents to formally drop Mancao from the WPP.
De Lima made such action after Mancao did not heed her call to surrender and following the accusations of graft he hurled against the WPP.
Likewise, De Lima called on Mancao to be bothered by his conscience because of his disrespect to the WPP which provided him safe haven.
De Lima was dismayed and hurt because even if she will be compromised then, she still tried very hard not to drop Mancao from the WPP although the court did not grant the motion of the prosecution to discharge him as a state witness in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.
As chief implementor of the WPP, De Lima vouched for the integrity of the WPP and expressed her confidence to the current director of the program Atty. Martin Menez.
De Lima also said if Mancao is really desperate for his own personal safety, it is not right to drag the WPP because he does not understand what will be the possible consequences of his baseless accusations against the program. (PNA)
