Smoke comes out of Mayon; Albay residents secured

A huge mushroom-like smoke was seen coming out of the Mayon Volcano at around 8am, Tuesday, threatening the residents of Albay, Bicol of a possible eruption.
The volcano released sky-high smoke reaching up to two kilometers and emitted ashes for about 72 seconds.
According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. said that the residents should not panic since the Alert level still remains at "0". However, he advised the public to stay away from close perimeters especially within the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone around the volcano.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs will continue to monitor the activity of Mayon for the next 24 hours.
