National and local aspirants in the May 13 midterm polls have until Saturday to make their last ditch effort to promote themselves.
Commission on Elections Chairman Sixto Brillantes, Jr. said the campaign period for all candidates who are running for national and local positions will end on Saturday at 11:59 pm.
"Sunday wala ng kampanya. Sunday at 12:00 am bawal na kampanya," he added.
Brillantes also said the Liquor ban starts at 12:00 am of May 12.
However, he noted that candidates may still hold their miting de avance on Saturday, and reminded them to behave and not cause clashes as it is the last day of the election campaign.
"Mag meeting de avance na kayo. Huwag lang kayo masyado magsusuntukan at magkakainitan. Tama na. Malapit na e. Wala naman kayo makukuha kung manggulo pa kayo. It could even be a negative move," Brillantes said.
Traditionally, national and local candidates hold their big campaign activities at the start and the last day of the campaign period.
On the other hand, the poll body chief cautioned candidates and their supporters that distribution of sample ballots and leaflets are not allowed starting Sunday until Election Day.
"Bawal yun. Campaigning yun," Brillantes said.
The 90-day campaign period for national candidates started last February 12 while the 45-day campaign period for local candidates began on March 29. (PNA)
