A new team of Taiwanese investigators is expected to arrive in the Philippines for the parallel investigation of the shooting incident in Balintang Channel last May 9.
Justice Secretary Leila M. De Lima on Friday said her understanding is that another group of investigators from Taiwan will arrive in the country for the inspection of the marine vessel of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) involved in the incident.
The arrival of the new group of foreign investigators is expected anytime this week, De Lima said.
Nevertheless, the inspection of the marine vessel MCS 3001 by Taiwanese investigators and of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) team on the fishing vessel Guang Ta Hsin 28 will be conducted almost at the same time, De Lima said.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) earlier said the Taiwanese and Philippine authorities have agreed to cooperate with each other in some aspects of the investigation of the incident. (PNA)
