A woman in Australia was surprised after finding a real koala in the branches of their Christmas tree at home.
"I thought 'Is this a joke?' I thought one of my kids may have put like a soft toy in there, but no, it was a live one," Amanda McCormick said.
After confirming that it was a real koala, McCormick immediately called the Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue and informed them that a koala climbed their Christmas tree in their home in Mannan and at first the animal rescuers thought she was pranking them.
"But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda's house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree," the Adelaide and Hills Koala Rescue said in a Facebook post.
McCormick said that the koala might have "crawled in when the doors were open, it would have been in our house for at least three hours."
Meanwhile, the animal rescuers safely returned the female koala to the outdoors.
