Angat Dam water supply sufficient for summer months – PAGASA

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that Angat Dam will have sufficient supply until April regardless of the anticipated below-normal rainfall in its area.
"We're not anticipating such supply problem that month," said PAGASA hydrologist Max Peralta.
According to Peralta, Angat's water is "at a high level" until April, which means that it can still supply irrigation and power, as well as potable water to Metro Manila.
On Tuesday, March 9, PAGASA reported that Angat Dam's 6 a.m. water level at 209.50 meters, which is greater than the 180 meters minimum operating level (MOL) of the facility.
Peralta said that the water level may incline to about 200 meters by end-March; however, it is still above the MOL.
He added that Angat Dam has enough reserved water and does not need to depend on the rain in April.
"Even if it won't rain over Angat watershed this April, the dam will still have more than enough reserve to supply," he added.
Furthermore, Peralta said that PAGASA's expected above-normal rainfall in the watershed this May and June will even replenish Angat's water supply for its customers.
