DOST launches automated related service centers

Two new automotive-related service centers were launched serving as an answer to transportation problems in the country, DOST recently announced.
The Finite Element Analysis Design Center serves as the government's main laboratory in upgrading of customized local road vehicles (CLRVs) like tricycles, jeepneys and mini buses.
"The CLRVs were tested for safety and structural design improvement," Department of Science and Technology (DOST) said in a statement.
The center will help address the environmental safety of CRLV to develop expertise through Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
"FEA refers to the modeling of products and systems in a virtual environment, for the purpose of finding and solving potential or existing structural or performance issues," DOST also said.
"Our advanced transport solutions are not exactly rocket science as, when one looks closely, they are actually straightforward engineering and metalworking applications," Sec. Mario Montejo added in a statement.
On the other hand, the Die and Mold Solution center provides continues training in the manufacturing and designing of dies and molds, thus, sustaining local manpower.
"The center is expected to augment the productivity of the tool and die industry and make the Philippines establish a stronger footing in the global scene," DOST stress.
"At present, Japan, China, and South Korea are global leaders in the tool and die manufacturing sector," they also mentioned.
"The automotive centers are now being developed at the DOST Complex in Taguig City and will be fully implemented by next year," DOST concluded. (PNA)
