Bakit Ikaw: The Presidential Job Interview with Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos

Former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. attended Tuesday, January 25, DZRH's Bakit Ikaw: The Presidential Job Interview.
Marcos was given several questions by the anchors, reporters, and citizens on how the government can move the nation forward.
Marcos, under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, and together with Sara Duterte, brought up their Uniteam campaign after he was asked why he should be the President of the country. He claimed that his advocacy aims to unify the Filipinos.
"Ito ang simulang simula para tayo ay maka-recover sa COVID, una nating gawin ay ipagsanib pwersa ang mga Pilipino para tulungan ang kapwa Pilipino," he said.
(This is the starting point for us to recover [against] COVID, let's first unify the Filipinos to help each other.)
"Tayo ay nakaraos noon bilang bansa dahil tayo ay nagtutulungan," he added.
(We survived before as a country because of our unity.)
Meanwhile, some of the topics or highlights discussed at the "Bakit Ikaw" DZRH Job Interview of Marcos Jr:
On Martial Law
Marcos stressed that the Martial Law is only for war.
"May lugar naman ang Martial Law. Martial Law ay para sa giyera. Kapag may giyera kailangang mag-Martial Law talaga, dahil ang umiiral, ang gumagalaw talaga, at ang sinusundan natin ay ang military dahil sila ang lumalaban para sa atin," he said.
(Martial Law has its place. It is only for war. At war, we really need Martial Law because it is the military that operates, moves, and we follow them because they are the ones fighting for us.)
On cocaine issue
Marcos said that he had no time to use cocaine or any kind of illegal drugs in his youth.
"Nagpadrug test agad ako, una sa lahat."
(I submitted myself to drug test, first among all)," Marcos said.
He said that he was the first person to submit himself into drug testing after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte alluded that a presidential aspirant was using cocaine.
On his family's ill-gotten wealth and unpaid taxes
According to Marcos, if he will be elected as president, he will let the law run its course on the issue of his family's ill-gotten wealth.
"Nandyan naman ang mga batas, kung ano ang desisyon, kung ano ang order ng korte susundin natin. Pabayaan na natin ang batas ang umiral dito sa mga kasong ito," Marcos said.
(The law is there, whatever the decision is, whatever the decision of the court, we will follow it. Let us let the law run its course on these cases.)
On his willingness to release his SALN if he gets elected as president
Based on Marcos's recent pronouncement, he said that he would not release his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) if he gets elected as president if it will be used as a "political attack" against him, citing the case of former Chief Justice Renato Corona.
However, during the Bakit Ikaw? DZRH Presidential Job Interview, Marcos said that he is willing to release his SALN if he is elected as president.
"Kaya't handa naman ako, kung kakailanganin pakita natin yung SALN," he said.
(I am ready if they need me to present my SALN.)
On the other hand, DZRH is set to interview all of the presidential candidates in the "Bakit Ikaw" interview, which will be aired on all DZRH digital, Radyo Natin website, and other traditional media platforms.
Aside from Marcos, other aspirants who will participate on the interview are Leodegario "Ka Leody" de Guzman on January 26; Panfilo "Ping" Lacson (January 28); Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao (January 29); and Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo (February 2). (DZRH)
