Aquino to deliver State of the Nation Address

President Benigno S. Aquino III will deliver the State of the Nation Address at the House of Representatives today during a joint session to mark the opening of the first regular session of the 16th Congress of the Philippines.
This will be Aquino's fourth SONA.
Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda in a press briefing aired over government-run radio station dzRB Radyo ng Bayan on Sunday said the President's SONA will be broadcast live over television (PTV-4), radio (dzRB) and over the Internet via live stream at www.gov.ph to allow Filipinos to watch and listen.
"Ito po ay ika-75th na SONA po ng ating bayan. So meron pong mga trivia sa website ng gov.ph, inaanyayahan po natin ang mga mamamayan, ating mga kababayan, na tangkilikin po ang website na ito. At, kung meron po silang internet bukas, ila-live rin po natin ang State of the Nation Address ng ating Pangulo," he added
According to the gov.ph website, there have been 74 SONAs, and the forthcoming address of President Aquino III will be the 75th since 1935 and the 27th since the restoration of democratic rule under the Fifth Republic in 1987.
The SONA is a yearly tradition wherein the chief executive reports on the status of the country, unveils the government's agenda for the coming year, and may also propose to Congress certain legislative measures. (PNA)
