A blast from a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) rocked the area in front of a radio station in Midsayap town, North Cotabato province before dawn Wednesday.
The explosion took place around 3:30 a.m. in front of the building housing WOW Radio.
"At 3:30 a.m., a loud explosion was heard and we verified it occurred at Poblacion 1)," Midsayap police head Supt. Reynante Delos Santos said in a radio interview.
Initial findings showed an IED blew up under a concrete bench in front of a building that housed a pawnshop at the ground floor.
The WOW Radio facilities were at the second floor of the building, he said.
Delos Santos said no one was initially reported injured in the blast.
He said they have cordoned off the area and are processing the scene to look for clues.
"We are thankful there was no casualty, though there was damage to the rolling door," he said.
Delos Santos also cited information indicating the radio station's owner had received "bomb threats" even before last Monday's Cotabato blast that killed at least nine people. (PNA)
