The Philippines' esports team Sibol reached the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) championship round via a come-from-behind win against Myanmar at Nagaworld 2 on Saturday night, May 13.
Sibol, reigning two-time MLBB champion, turned back a 0-1 deficit in their best-of-three semifinals series, 2-1, to set a Sunday clash, May 14, for the gold medal versus fellow finalist Malaysia.
The Malaysian side took down host Cambodia, 2-1, to qualify for the finals for the first time since the inclusion of MLBB in the biennial meet in 2019.
Mentored by head coach Francis "Duckey" Glindro, the Bren Esports-represent Philippines composed of David "FlapTzy" Canon, Michael "KyleTzy" Sayson, Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel, Marco "SUPER MARCO" Requitano, and Rowgien "Owgwen" Unigo, alongside sixth man Nowee "Ryota" Macasa from ONIC Philippines, will look to avenge their defeat in the hands of Malaysia in the group stage come the finals.
Earlier in the same day, Sibol secured second place in Group A by dominating Timor Leste, 1-0, to barge into the semifinal round.
Sibol women's Mobile Legends squad settled with silver after losing to Indonesia, 3-2, in their best-of-five finals a few days ago.
