Fresh from his 5.92-meter finish in Berlin, Ernest John "EJ" Obiena repeated the same feat in Katschhof, Aachen in Germany to win the NetAachen Domspringen 2023 title on Wednesday, September 6.
Obiena overcame 5.92 meters to top the 15-player field and replicate his performance in the ISTAF Berlin 2023 tiff three days ago at the Olympiastadion in Germany's capital.
Finishing dead last in the 10-man Zurich leg of the 2023 Wanda Diamond League, Obiena returned stronger with back-to-back crowns.
He will once again don the national colors in the Diamond League's Brussels leg with defending world and Olympic champion Armand Duplantis on his way, alongside World Athletics Championships (WAC) 2023 bronze winners Christopher Nilsen and Kurtis Marschall.
Up next for the first-ever Filipino silver medalist in WAC history after the Brussels meet is the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on September 30.
Obiena's nearest competitor Sam Kendricks of the United States of America (USA) cleared 5.87m to settle for silver.
France's Thibaut Collet, meanwhile, took the bronze with 5.82m.
The Netherlands' Menno Vloon and USA's Austin Miller landed fourth and fifth, respectively, after registering an identical 5.75m.
Ethan Cormont of France wound up sixth with 5.65m.
