Cignal HD Spikers kept their slate unscathed in the ongoing Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League 2024 men's tournament.
The Dexter Clamor-mentored squad rose to a 2-0 win-loss record behind their dominant 25-15, 25-21, 27-25 victory against still winless PGJC Philippine Navy at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday afternoon, February 12.
Joshua Umandal, outside hitter and Philippine men's national volleyball team mainstay since 2019, starred anew for Cignal by listing 15 attacks, 3 blocks, and 1 ace for a game-high 19 points.
Last February 11, the former University of Sto. Tomas standout led the HD Spikers' 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 demolition of the College of St. Benilde (CSB) Blazers with 18 markers.
JP Bugaoan added 9 points, while Lloyd Josafat and Wendel Miguel chipped in six each for Clamor's side.
Cignal took advantage of Navy's slow start in the first and second sets to take a commanding 2-0 set lead before surviving the latter in a close affair in the third frame.
PGJC battled back from a four-point deficit, 19-23, with Joeven Dela Vega and Greg Dolor conspiring to knot the score at 24-all, only to lose steam.
Navy fell to a 0-2 card despite the 16-point effort of Dela Vega, with nine of those in the third and final frame.
Dolor backstopped Dela Vega with 13 markers on 12 attacks and 1 block.
The HD Spikers go for a group sweep on Wednesday, February 14, at 3:30 p.m. in the same venue against Savouge Aesthetics.
Dela Vega, Dolor, and company will close their preliminary round campaign on the same date and venue at 6 p.m. versus CSB.
