MANILA – The Manila City government would follow the adjusted work schedule for local government employees in the National Capital Region (NCR) to help ease traffic congestion in the region.
In a social media post Friday, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the city will adopt the 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. schedule in compliance with Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution No. 24-08 adjusting the working hours in local government offices starting May 2, from the original schedule of implementation on April 15.
"Ito ay inilipat mula sa unang napagkasunduan na araw ng Lunes, April 15, upang mabigyan ng sapat na oras upang maipaalam sa lahat ng maaapektuhan ng pagbabagong ito," the Manila mayor said.
(This was moved from the earlier agreed implementation schedule on April 15, to give everyone a chance to be informed about this development.)
She said the resolution of the Metro Manila Council (MMC) aims to help alleviate Metro Manila's traffic problem.
In a press briefing at the MMDA office in Pasig City, San Juan City Mayor and MMC President Francis Zamora said the policy would cover some 112,000 employees of the region's 17 local government units (LGUs).
"We in the LGUs can easily adjust to it through the issuance of an executive order that will be disseminated to different department and employees of the LGUs," Zamora said.
The MMC, the governing board of the MMDA, is composed of local government units heads of Manila, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Malabon, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Navotas, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Pasig, Marikina, and the municipality of Pateros. (PNA)
