A skilled chimpanzee at a Chinese zoo returns a lost shoe to a visitor

In an unusual event at a zoo in China, a skilled chimpanzee demonstrated its prowess in helping return a lost shoe to a visitor.

A video was captured at Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Nature Reserve in Weihai City, Shandong Province, China, where a chimpanzee named Dong Dong is seen playing with a shoe that fell into its enclosure from a young visitor.

After several minutes, Dong Dong tossed the shoe back up to the visitors and was returned to the owner.

According to a zookeeper, Dong Dong is a proficient chimpanzee who has returned lost items for visitors on several occasions.

Recently, an elephant at the same facility was also caught on camera helping a child retrieve a shoe dropped in its paddock.

These incidents are evidence of a unique connection between animals and their caretakers and visitors at the zoo, demonstrating understanding and harmony in their environment. (Pauline Dungao)
