Bicol cops seize P2.9-M illegal drugs in 10-day ops

LEGAZPI CITY – Some P2.9 million worth of illegal drugs were seized during 10 days of simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operations (SACLEO) in the Bicol Region from June 17 to 27.
In a report on Friday, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 (Bicol) spokesperson, said during the 52 operations conducted, police personnel confiscated 433.71 grams of shabu and 31.55 grams of marijuana, along with six firearms, four vehicles, and three gadgets from 63 arrested suspects.
She said 62 cases have been filed in court to ensure that the suspects will face legal repercussions for their actions.
Calubaquib said PRO5 remains committed to its mission of eradicating illegal drugs in the Bicol region by continuously working to bring offenders to justice and curb illegal drug-related crimes.
She said they are strengthening police-community relations initiatives, including conducting dialogues, distributing informational, educational, and communication materials, and disseminating safety tips through social media.
"These initiatives aim to foster better community engagement and enhance public awareness of safety and security measures," Calubaquib said. (PNA)
