CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The provincial government of Laguna is poised to capitalize on its recent achievement as recipient of a Presidential Recognition as an Outstanding Development Partner in Southern Luzon, specifically for its efforts in improving access to markets.
Christopher Sanji, the provincial information officer (PIO), said in an interview on Thursday that the accolade received by Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez not only elevates the provincial government's standing but also opens doors to new avenues for growth and development.
The recognition was conferred during the 2024 Presidential Awards for Outstanding Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Development Partners ceremony at MalacaƱang Palace on July 10.
Sanji highlighted the significance of this achievement, saying, "Winning the presidential award as a development partner can significantly enhance the provincial government of Laguna's reputation and unlock diverse opportunities for further advancement."
Sanji outlined several benefits stemming from this recognition, including enhanced credibility for attracting investors and tourists, strengthened partnerships with national and international organizations, increased access to funding for development initiatives, and opportunities to share successful strategies through workshops and seminars.
The recognition primarily acknowledges the efforts of the Laguna Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), specifically through its impactful program, "Bridging Market and MSMEs: The Impact of Likhang Laguna Initiatives." This initiative focuses on supporting local MSMEs with market access, financial aid, and skills enhancement.
Hernandez's 8-point development plan, according to Sanji, underscores the provincial government's commitment to sustaining economic growth for MSMEs.
These initiatives include establishing grant programs for innovative MSMEs, providing comprehensive training workshops, setting up business hubs, facilitating e-commerce ventures, promoting digital transformation, streamlining regulatory processes, fostering collaboration among MSMEs, and encouraging sustainable practices.
"By implementing these strategies," Sanji concluded, "the provincial government of Laguna aims to leverage this accolade to drive MSME economic development, fostering sustained growth and prosperity across the province." (PNA)
