DSWD-13 readies resources as LPA threatens Caraga

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) is readying resources as a low-pressure area (LPA) threatens the region.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the LPA was estimated to be located in the coastal waters of Guiuan, Eastern Samar province.
"The agency will continue to work with key stakeholders in its preparation for the LPA and will be more than ready to address requests for technical assistance and provision of humanitarian cargo as the need would arise in the coming days," DSWD-13 said.
Since Tuesday, most parts of the region have been experiencing moderate to heavy rains due to the weather disturbance.
Currently, the DSWD-13 said P5 million in standby funds and P165 million worth of food and non-food items are available for augmentation when needed.
At least 34,686 family food packs (FFPs) are also on standby at the DSWD-13 regional warehouse, while 92,301 FFPs were prepositioned to warehouses of different local government units (LGUs) in the area.
Non-food items totaling 13,752 consisting of 5,097 family kits, 6,535 sleeping kits, 117 hygiene kits, and 2,003 kitchen kits are also ready for augmentation.
The agency also continuously monitors the situation in the region's provinces through coordination with the LGUs and concerned agencies. (PNA)
