CEBU CITY – The Bureau of Customs – Sub-port of Mactan said Saturday it would hold more stakeholder engagement initiatives to boost revenue-generation efforts, as it cited the Top 10 importers for contributing to the P1.2 billion collection of duties and taxes.
Gerardo Campo, collector of BOC-Mactan, said the collection team of the Sub-port of Mactan would do more personalized service with top corporations to ensure faster trade facilitation.
"The success of the Sub-port of Mactan has been largely attributed to the importers' unwavering commitment to pay correct duties and taxes," Campo said in an interview, citing the Top 10 importers' contribution of P876 million to the total revenue of P1.2 billion.
Campo said the commitment of Mactan-based importers to help the government generate funds for development projects has contributed to the surplus collection during the first half of 2024.
The sub-port collector cited AD Gothong Manufacturing Corp. for paying P344.5 million in duties and taxes from January to June, followed by San Miguel Food, Inc. with P134.3 million.
Also contributing to the revenue collection in Mactan were Alta Global Services, Inc. (P90.7 million); Universal Feed Mill Corp. (P73.4 million); Neovia Philippins, Inc. (P64 million); and Louis Vuitton (Philippines), Inc. (P53.3 million).

"Closer ties and cooperation with the importers would inspire them to help BOC-Mactan meet or even exceed our target," Campo added.
According to him, BOC-Mactan achieved a milestone by collecting P1,270,075,925.27 in the first half of 2024.
This amount exceeds the P615.83 million semi-annual target by P654,245,925.27, representing a positive deviation of 106.24 percent. (PNA)
