Farm Fresh beats Galeries Tower in PVL Reinforced Conference

MANILA – Farm Fresh played steadier in the final set to beat Galeries Tower, 25-22, 35-37, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10, in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday.
Colombian outside hitter Yeny Murillo scored 29 points, including five straight in a 6-0 run that gave the Foxies a commanding 11-6 lead in the fifth set.
The Highrisers rallied behind Roselle Baliton and Andrea Marzan to cut the lead to two points, but the Foxies banked on Murillo and rookie Princess Maicah Larroza to wrap up the match after two hours and 42 minutes.
"I'm very happy," Japanese coach Shuta Sato said through an interpreter.
Murillo finished with 16 excellent receptions and 10 excellent digs.
"I thought my team needed this win because we need a motivation to keep pushing harder. The team has been my motivation," she said.
Caitlyn Viray and Trisha Gayle Tubu contributed 18 points each, Aprylle Tagsip had 15 points, four on blocks, for Farm Fresh, which has a 1-2 card in Pool A.
Skipper Louie Romero made 27 excellent sets and libero Janel Delerio added 25 excellent digs and 12 receptions.
Thai import Chuewulim Sutadta had 19 points, 19 receptions, and 10 digs for Galeries Tower, which absorbed its third straight loss.
Grace Bombita and France Ronquillo chipped in 17 points, while Roselle Baliton added 14 points, including three blocks. (PNA)
