La Salle swimmers shine in ROTC Games Luzon leg

MANILA – Swimmers Kirk Dominique Reyes and Janelle Kyla Chua of De La Salle University-Manila scooped five gold medals each in the Philippine Navy division of the Philippine Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Games Luzon leg at the De La Salle University-DasmariƱas pool in Cavite.
Reyes ruled the boys' 50m breaststroke and the 100m butterfly events on Wednesday after ruling the 200m Individual Medley, 200m breaststroke, and 50m butterfly on opening day.
He won the 50m breaststroke in 32.14 seconds and the 100m butterfly in 1:02.65.
Chua, on the other hand, dominated the girls' 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, and 100m butterfly events.
She topped the 50m breaststroke in 41.70 seconds, prevailing over Hanako Joyce Casinas (1:09.58) and Lorena Kim Batara (1:18.52).
In the 100m butterfly, Chua clocked 1:11.19 to beat Shayne Francine Lugay (1:12.64) and Jasmine Del Moro (1:30.37).
Over at the Cavite State University (CvSU) track oval, Zoren Lepalam of Rizal Technological University-Boni Campus won the men's long jump in 6.24 meters in the Army division. He beat teammate Earl Constantino (6.23m) and Allan Heliran of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture- Pili Campus (5.80m).
In the women's 200m run, Audrey Abigail Latag of Philippine State College of Aeronautics-FAB Campus registered 34.1 seconds to claim the gold medal in the Air Force division.
Clarise Jade Ronda Buyayo of Fullbright College and Jovelyn San Ramon of Saint Jude College Manila settled for the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
Other winners were Geremae Domalanta of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation. Inc. (Navy) and Janice Patdu of Don Honorio Ventura State University (Army).
In the men's 200m, the winners were Guhan D.L. Garcia of Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation Inc (Navy), Meynard Guillermo of University of Baguio (Army), and Rommel Gonzales of Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa (Air Force). (PNA)
