Buddin leads NU Bulldogs to 2nd win in V-League

MANILA – UAAP champion National University claimed its second win after beating Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-19, 25-23, 25-15, in the 2024 V-League Men's Collegiate Challenge at Paco Arena in Manila on Sunday.
Michaelo Buddin had 13 attacks, three blocks and an ace to lead the Bulldogs, who needed only one hour and 13 minutes to claim victory over the Generals.
Skipper Leo Aringo chipped in 13 points – 12 on attacks – and made nine excellent receptions and five digs for NU, which kicked off its bid by beating Perpetual Help, 25-21, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, on July 31.
"Nagsisimula ulit kaming mabuo 'yung team kaya although panalo kami, malaking bagay 'yung nakakuha ng experience 'yung ibang players namin. Kailangan talaga naming mag-gel pa para mabawasan 'yung unforced errors (We're starting to build the team again so although we won, it is a big thing that our other players gained experience. We really need to gel more to reduce our unforced errors)," NU coach Dante Alinsunurin said.
Obed Mukaba and Jan Llanfred Abadillad chipped in six and five points, respectively, while Greg Augustus Luis Ancheta made 13 excellent sets.
Jan Ruther Abor scored 14 points on 12 attacks, one block and one ace, while Frelwin Taculog contributed six attacks and an ace for the Generals.
EAC dropped to 0-2 with their second straight loss, the first to the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 13-25, 23-25, 22-25, on July 28.
Meanwhile, NU will try to keep its winning run next Sunday when it tackles University of Santo Tomas at 3 p.m. in a rematch of the UAAP finals.
EAC will face De La Salle University on Aug. 14. (PNA)
