MANILA – Cliff Nuñeza and Ally Gaccion are ready for the tough challenge in the final leg of the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) Mindanao Series at Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro City on Monday.
"Focus on the range and improve my putting," Nuñeza, who beat Bacolod's John Rey Oro in the boys' 16-18 division in Bukidnon on Friday, said.
Gaccion is also determined to keep her form after dominating the girls' division.
"Hopefully, I'll do better since Pueblo is my home course," Gaccion said. "My edge lies in familiarity and ball placement. I know where to go if I get into trouble and how to handle the greens' speed."
In the 10-12 category, Ralph and Rafella Batican are setting their sights on third straight wins after ruling the South Pacific and Del Monte legs.
Also hoping for consecutive wins are Francesca Geroy (girls' 8-9), Zero Plete (girls' 13-15) and Alexis Nailga (boys' 13-15) while James Benedict Rolida is gunning for a fourth straight victory in the boys' 8-9 category.
Meanwhile, the Luzon series resumes on Aug. 20 to 23 at Luisita in Tarlac while the next leg will be on Sept. 2 to 5 at Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City, Batangas.
The 14-leg circuit will end on Sept. 10 to 13 at Sherwood Hills Golf Club in Cavite.
Under the nationwide series format, the best two results from the four-leg competition will determine the top two players in each category for the national finals.
For those competing in multiple series, their top three results will be counted, with only the best player from each class advancing. (PNA)
