ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS 1) was in fiesta mode on Friday as its personnel feasted on two pork lechon (roasted pig), an incentive from the city government here after it garnered the highest accomplishment in the anti-drug campaign in September.
The ICPS 1, under Capt. Roque Gimeno III, bested nine other police stations and was named the best-performing police station for September.
The ICP Office (ICPO), through its 10 stations, conducted 42 drug buy-bust operations in September, resulting in the apprehension of 73 drug personalities and the confiscation of almost 2 kg. of shabu, with an estimated street value of P9.9 million.
The accomplishment was considered an all-time high in terms of the number of operations and persons arrested in the records of the ICPO in 2024.
The ICPS 1 confiscated P1.2 million worth of drugs out of the total haul based on the standard drug price.
Joy Fantilaga, spokesperson for Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, said the local government remains steadfast in its fight against illegal drugs, and the mayor continues to recognize the dedication and relentless efforts of the police force in ensuring that the Ilonggos are safe and free from the threat of illegal drugs.
"Mayor Treñas has committed to honor and reward the best-performing police station in this critical battle," she said.
ICPO Director Col. Kim Legada, in his message, said the office is very lucky to have a very supportive local chief executive in the campaign against illegal drugs.
The turnover of two pork lechon was in time for the family day celebration of the ICPS 1. (PNA)
