Six steps to get closure after a breakup

A breakup is a very painful experience in life and not getting closure can make it harder.
Without closure, we are often left by questions such as "Where did I go wrong?" or "What went wrong in our relationship?"
All of us deserve to free ourselves from the entanglements of a past relationship and closure is what is considered to be a step to move on.
The following tips may help you get some form of closure after a breakup;
1. Talk to your ex in person (if you can)
Try to meet with your ex-partner in person. It is always better to talk things out in person than thru call or text. Make sure that when you talk to your ex, he or she will understand your side and won't try to revive your dead relationship.
Inform your partner that you needed closure. Expect the conversation to be emotional but try to stay strong because blame-shifting could happen.
2. Accept the breakup
In order to move forward in life, you must learn to accept that the relationship has already ended. Since you have already expressed your side, it's time to accept the reality that you will never go back together.
3. Keep a total distance
Stop talking to your ex and give yourself some time to heal from all the pain. Start deleting his or her contact number and unfollow their social media accounts. Avoid checking your ex's social media account because it will only make your closure harder to achieve.
3. Avoid the blame game
Always remember that some relationships are not bound to work and it is not your fault. Avoid wasting your energy by trying to figure out who to blame because it will only lead you into having negative emotions.
So learn to let go of the past to have a healthy future.
4. Try to forgive yourself and your ex-partner
After the closure meeting, try to sit down with a clear state of mind and write a list of the good and bad things that happened in your relationship.
Then meditate over the written list and say these thoughts in your mind: "I forgive you" and "I forgive myself."
This could help you heal.
5. Try to socialize
Get up and see your friends. Meet new people. But it does not have to be romantic. You just need have a good time with the people who truly care for you.
6. Focus on yourself
After having your mind preoccupied with breakup, now is the right time to think about yourself. Become obsessed at how you can improve yourself, not because you want to lure your ex back, but because you love yourself.
Take your time and know that having closure is the first step you need in order to move on after a breakup.
Accept that the relationship is over and know your worth. This will help you realize that you aren't settling with someone who does not really care for you.
