Diamante, Melencio, Evangelista rule Speedo Series 2 events

MANILA – Nicola Queen Diamante claimed the 50-meter butterfly gold in the girls' 14 years division of the Go Full Speedo Swim Series 2 Championships at the Teofilo Yldefonso swimming pool inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila on Saturday.
Diamante, a Grade 9 student from Augustinian Abbey School in Las PiƱas City and top swimmer of the RSS Dolphins coached by Anthony Reyes, clocked 31.70 seconds to beat Rielle Aislyn Antonio of PCA Stingray (32.13) and Caelyn Dane Salac of Modern Aquatic Swim Club (34.02).
Ricielle Maleeka Melencio and Aishel Evangelista also topped their respective categories in the tournament organized by the Philippine Aquatics, Inc. and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.
Melencio of Ayala Harpoons Swim Club ruled the girls' 19-over 50m butterfly (31.58) and 200m freestyle (2:19.26).
Evangelista, named Most Outstanding Swimmer in his age group after winning six events in the Series 1 last month, dominated the 200m freestyle (2:02.40) in the boys' 14 years category.
Other boys' 200m freestyle winners were Paul Vincent Ocampo (11 years), Von Andrei Pinon (12 years), Vynz Tadulan (13 years), John Jeremy Villaneuva (15 years), Ethan Yuri Dulin (16 years), Patrick Vidal (17 years), Jim Ryan Mirandilla (18 years) and Earl Jhay Jayme (19 years).
In the girls' division, the gold medalists were Makoto Nakamura (11 years), Sophia Rose Garra (12 years), Rielle Antonio (13 years), Eliana Rodriguez (14 years, Kristine Uy (15 years), Alyssa Cabatian (16 years), Milkyla Guzman (17 years) and Rio Balbuena (18 years). (PNA)
