Customer in California finds out he's paying the neighbor's electricity bill for 18 years

A man in Solano County, California recently discovered that he is been paying his neighbor's electricity bill for almost 18 years.
Kevin Wilson, who has been living in his apartment in Solano since 2006, said that he noticed something weird with his Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) bill. He said that his bill was increasing, despite cutting back on his energy usage and using devices to monitor his watt's usage.
Wilson who lives alone in his flat said that after noticing the spike in his electricity bill, he called PG&E to inform them about his situation.
"Even after I turned off my breakers, I kept going outside to check my meter to see if it was still running and it was still running. And I couldn't believe it," Wilson said.
He added that at first, he thought that there was a leak or someone was stealing his electricity. However, after speaking to the utility company, he found out that he has been paying for the electricity bill of the unit next door, instead of his own flat.
Meanwhile, PG&E said that they are committed to correct the mistake. "We acknowledge an error occurred in this instance, and we are fully committed to rectifying the situation with the customer and making the customer whole," PG&E said in a statement.
