LEGAZPI CITY – Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion thanked President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for quickly responding to the needs of Naga City and Camarines Sur which were most devastated by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Legacion said the President's visit Saturday morning gave them hope that all their concerns will be addressed fast, particularly the assistance.
"Dahil sa pagdating po niya ay mas lalong napabilis 'yung tulong na binigay at ibibigay ng mga kinauukulang ahensiya (Because of his arrival, the help provided by the concerned agencies has been accelerated)," Legacion said.
Legacion said concerns and needed assistance of various local government units were relayed personally to the President.
"Na-ipaabot po natin sa pamahaalan nasyonal 'yung actual na sitwasyon ng lungsod at dahil po sa pagbisita nya, 'yung pinapaki-usap natin assistance mas lalong napadali (We have been able to convey to the national government the actual situation of the city and because of his presence, the assistance we are asking for will be delivered faster)," he added.
The 35,000 family food packs (FFPs) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) that they requested earlier have already arrived.
"They already delivered 3,000 FFPs, 8,000 just arrived, and another 4,000 within the day. Tomorrow, 8,000 food packs and the following day another 7,000 so it will be completed in a short period," he said.
Meanwhile, the mayor reported that of the 22 villages that were flooded, only seven remained underwater as of Saturday morning – Mabolo, Sabang, Abella, Sta. Cruz, Bagumbayan, Tabuco and Triangulo. (PNA)
