Unbeaten Lady Bulldogs overpower Lady Warriors by 55 points

MANILA – National University stamped its class over the University of the East, 103-48, to keep its immaculate record in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 women's basketball at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday.
The 55-point winning margin is the biggest in the women's division since NU's 92-31 triumph over UE in Season 85 on Nov. 13, 2022.
Camille Clarin delivered 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and one steal to lead the Lady Bulldogs to their ninth win.
"We never look at any teams in the UAAP based on their standing. We always respect our opponent and we always put a premium on our preparation," NU coach Aris Dimaunahan said after the match.
"Part of the challenge in our team is how we start the game and today, I thought that our starters responded very well to the challenge," he added.
Karl Ann Pingol, Princess Fabruada and Jainaba Konateh contributed 12 points each for NU, which posted a 32-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Princess Ganade finished with 17 points, four rebounds and two assists; and Kamba Kone had nine points, seven rebounds, and one steal for the Lady Warriors, who stayed at the bottom at 1-8.
Meanwhile, NU-Nazareth School (NUNS) dumped University of the Philippines Integrated School, 102-78, to gain solo fourth place at 5-4 in the boys' division.
David Sabareza led NUNS with 21 points, seven steals, five rebounds, and four assists; while Chester Tulabut added 21 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Yujin Pena contributed 17 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal; and Mac Tadeo had 13 points, four rebounds and two blocks.
"We're not looking at the win streak. I just tell them that we'll go one game at a time," NUNS coach Kevin de Castro said.
Bruce Tubongbanua had a game-high 31 points while Jhustin Hallare added 29 points for UPIS, which is winless in 10 outings.
In the men's division, Nigerian center Momowei scored 17 points on top of 17 rebounds in UE's 74-58 victory over NU.
Wello Lingolingo added 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals, while Ethan Galang fired four triples for 12 points as the Red Warriors stayed in third place at 6-3.
Rookie Tebol Garcia had 12 points, while Jolo Manansala added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Bulldogs, who absorbed their third straight loss and dropped to 2-8 for eighth place. (PNA)
