P105.5-M worth of aid, stand-by funds ready for 'Marce' victims in CAR

BAGUIO CITY – About P105.5 million worth of relief items and funds are available for distribution once needed during the onslaught of Typhoon Marce (international name Yinxing) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Cordillera regional director Maria Aplaten said they continue to have sufficient funds and personnel to attend to the needs of the people in case Marce batters Northern Luzon.
She said some P102.48 million worth of family food packs and non-food items are ready for distribution, with most of the goods pre-positioned in the provinces, as well as P2.99 million worth of stand-by funds.
In a Facebook post Thursday noon, the Department said some 22 villages in the provinces of Abra, Apayao, and Mountain Province are currently affected by the weather disturbance.
It said some 157 families have transferred to 24 evacuation centers in the region, while 10 families preferred to stay with their relatives or friends' houses.
The northern part of Apayao, particularly the municipalities of Santa Marcela, Luna, Flora, Calanasan, Pudtol, among other places in Northern Luzon are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4 based on the 8 p.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Among those that are under TCWS No. 3 are the northern portion of Abra, namely Tineg, Danglas, Lagayan, Lacub, San Juan, La Paz, and Bangued.
Included under TCWS No. 2 are the rest of Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, the northern portion of Ifugao, particularly Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo, Mayoyao, Banaue, Hungduan), and the northern portion of Benguet – Bakun and Mankayan.
The rest of Ifugao and Benguet are included in areas under TCWS No. 1. (PNA)
