MANILA – MPL PH champion Fnatic Onic PH and Aurora Gaming will join the Mobile Legends M6 World Championships scheduled Nov. 28 to Dec. 15 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Philippines, represented by Falcons AP Bren, won the tournament last year.
"There are 16 international teams competing and 14 of them are looking at us," Keith Nino Medrano, who accompanied the teams during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila on Tuesday, said.
Both teams trained hard as they expect a tough challenge ahead.
"We're ready. We doubled all our efforts in the preparation," Aurora Gaming coach Aniel "Master the Basics" Jiandani said, accompanied by his player, Edward Jay Dapadap.
Fnatic Onic PH coach Tony Senedrin, meanwhile, was mum about his game plans.
"We're not looking too far ahead at this time. We'll see," Senedrin, who was joined by his player Cyric "Kingkong" Perez, said.
Fnatic Onic PH will be up against reigning MPL Indonesia champion Team Liquid ID in the opening, while Aurora will meet Myanmar's top team, Falcon Esports.
This year's edition will follow the Swiss format in the group phase, where a new set of draws is held after each round.
After five draws, teams with three wins will automatically advance to the playoffs of the USD1 million event.
The Swiss format offers a new challenge but the Filipinos are not worried.
"It's all first time, so I think it's equal," Jiandani said. (PNA)
