NUNS triumphs over FEU-D in UAAP girls' volleyball

MANILA – National University Nazareth School (NUNS) outplayed Far Eastern University (FEU) – Diliman, 25-21, 25-17, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 87 girls' volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena in Manila on Wednesday.
Skipper Harlyn Serneche scored 16 points as the Lady Bullpups improved their record to 9-1.
Denesse Daylisan chipped in 15 points, including four aces and two blocks, while Diza Marie Berayo had 12 points, 10 on attacks.
"It's good that the team is slowly peaking. But we cannot be complacent. We have to work harder until the Final Four," Lady Bullpups' head coach Ray Dimaculangan said.
Raine Alonzo finished with 12 attacks and an ace while Franz Premaylon and Cathlyn Umal contributed seven points each for FEU-D, tied for third place with defending champion Adamson University at 7-3.
The Lady Baby Falcons prevailed over the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles, 25-11, 25-13, 25-10.
Ellaine Gonzalvo had 12 points followed by Samantha Cantada with 10 points for Adamson.
Rian Ardidon paced winless Ateneo with six points on five attacks and one ace.
In the other game, the University of Santo Tomas conquered the University of the Philippines Integrated School, 25-13, 25-13, 25-22, to stay in solo second at 8-2.
Jhelianne Louise Auxtero scored eight points, Jaila Adrao had seven points, while Jezrel Silvestre, Kimberly Rubin, and Antonette Jaramillo made six points each.
"In today's game, our second unit had more exposure. The team's plan is to give a chance and exposure for our second unit for the players to have more confidence," UST assistant coach Yani Fernandez said.
Janella Guarino led the Junior Fighting Maroons with 10 points on seven attacks and three aces. (PNA)
