Eastern Visayas workers, 'kasambahay' get pay hike

MANILA – The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 8 has approved the daily pay of workers in private sector and monthly salary of domestic helpers in Eastern Visayas, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced on Friday.
The DOLE said the RTWPB-8 moto proprio granted a daily minimum wage increase of P30 across all sectors.
"This brings the daily minimum wage rates from P405 to P435 in different sectors/industries upon full implementation of all tranches," the DOLE said.
The Eastern Visayas RTWPB also approved the P500 increase in the salary of "kasambahay" (domestic workers), bringing the sector's monthly minimum wage to a range of P5,500 to P6,000.
Both wage orders will take effect on Dec. 2, 2024, after its publication on Nov. 16, 2024. The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved the wage orders on Nov. 13.
A total of 126,095 minimum wage earners in the private sector and 57,080 domestic workers will benefit from the RTWPB's wage orders. (PNA)
