LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO) targets to install dash cameras in all its 112 police vehicles and patrol mobiles to further boost transparent and accountable patrolling and police operations.
This is in line with the digitalization efforts of the Philippine National Police, PPO Director Col. Rollyfer Capoquian said in an interview Friday.
Capoquian said 47 cars have been installed with dash cameras to date.
"Dash cams, in general, are great tools in many aspects such as in maintaining the integrity of police officers and can be used as evidence and can help speed up the investigation, especially in cases of vehicular traffic incidents and other police operations," he said.
Capoquian said installation of the dash cams is in support of the Police Regional Office-Ilocos Region (PRO-1) project to install closed-circuit television cameras in establishments and conspicuous places to deter crime.
"As you all know, our police officers are equipped with body-worn cameras during police operations to ensure transparency, legality, and accountability. And now, we are extending it to the police operations on the road," PRO-1 Director Brig. Gen. Lou Frias Evangelista. (PNA)
