Martelli ends 6-game slump in Spikers' Turf

MANILA – Martelli Meats outplayed Chichi DHTSI Brotherhood, 25-19, 25-20, 25-19, Sunday to end a six-game slump in the Spikers' Turf Invitational Conference at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Renz Jonas Cruz led the Master Butchers with 10 points on six attacks, two blocks and two aces.
"We're happy. After many games of struggling, we finally got the win," Cruz, who earned the Player of the Game honors, said. "Defense is important because if our reception is weak, we recover from blocking."
The Titans did not give up easily, saving two match points before middle blocker Lorenz Calayag came up with a powerful attack as the Master Butchers wrapped up the match in one hour and 18 minutes.
Angelo Reyes chipped in nine points on seven attacks and two blocks while Kenrod Umali added eight points for Martelli Meats, which will meet Navy on Nov. 27.
Wilbert Cebrero had 10 excellent sets while Ricardo Alfaro made 17 excellent receptions.
Jonathan Sorio produced 14 points from 10 attacks, three blocks and an ace for the Titans, who will take on tournament favorites Criss Cross King Crunchers, also on Nov. 27. (PNA)
