CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Misamis Oriental is encouraging local government units (LGUs) to enhance public service delivery and governance following its recognition with the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
During the provincial convocation Monday, Provincial Administrator John Venice Ladaga said the award, conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), affirms the province's effective and efficient governance under Governor Peter Unabia's leadership.
"This is because, as an SGLG awardee, it means that our programs, platforms, and governance led by our governor were adjudged as efficient and effective," Ladaga said.
The SGLG measures LGUs' performance in crafting and implementing policies and programs, financial management, disaster preparedness, and social protection initiatives. It also evaluates their business competitiveness, environmental management, law enforcement, and public safety efforts.
In addition to Misamis Oriental, the provinces of Camiguin and Lanao del Norte also received the SGLG in the provincial category this year.
The DILG recognized two cities and 13 municipalities in Misamis Oriental for their exemplary governance during the Nov. 14 awarding ceremony. (PNA)
