Senate accepts Gatchalian's proposal on additional budget for SUCs

The Senate has formally accepted the proposal of Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian to increase the budget of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
Gatchalian's proposal was carried in the Senate's final and approved version of the General Appropriations Act (House Bill No. 10800) for fiscal year 2025.
The senator emphasized that preventing a budget shortfall will help SUCs expand their enrollment capacity and accommodate the rising demand for admission.
The additional budget is pegged at P3.058 billion for 82 SUCs.
The senator added that it is expected that the additional fund will help better the quality of education in the country in order to give way to producing excellent and competitive Filipino students.
