Constitution mandates Congress to act on impeachment raps vs VP – lawmakers

Two House lawmakers have indicated that Congress was bound by the Constitution to act on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Assistant Majority Leader and Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre said in a statement, "We have the constitutional duty, and we're bound by that mandate to act on all impeachment complaints filed with the House."
House committee on women and gender equality chairperson and Bataan 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman has expressed her hesitation regarding the impeachment of the vice president saying that she is not inclined to push for it because of the appeal made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
However, she also added that it is a part of their mandate in Congress to act on the complaints and they have no choice about it.
