Court orders Apple, Google for TikTok Ban

Two senior US lawmakers have sent a letter to Apple and Google Friday, informing them that by Jan. 19, they must remove TikTok from their app stores.
Representatives John Moolenaar and Raja Krishnamoorthi, House Select Committee on the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) members, have informed Apple CEO Tim Cook and Google CEO Sundar Pichai that "Congress has provided ample time – 233 days and counting – for the company to take the necessary steps to comply with the law and pursue a divestment that protects U.S. national security."
They added that under US law, Apple and Google must take the necessary steps to make sure that it can fully comply by Jan. 19, 2025.
The law being referred to has been signed by President Joe Biden and it requires TikTok to be sold by ByteDance or face a ban in the United States.
TikTok has not yet complied with the law and the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit has upheld the law.
