The Department of Social Welfare and Development, under Sec. Rex Gatchalian, has assured the public that the department will not only address the basic needs of those who were affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon, but also help the residents when it comes to their mental health.

DSWD Field Office 7-Western Visayas' The Angels in Red Vests, with some daycare workers, visited the residents and gave educational activities as well as mental and emotional support for kids aged three to 12 at the Canlaon City Gymnasium at the Jose B. Cardenas Memorial High School.
