Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa said he is open to reopening the probe into the disappearance of 34 sabungeros, if an incoming senator formally requests it and the case is referred to his committee.
The sabungeros vanished between 2021 and 2022, allegedly linked to the now-banned e-sabong industry. Businessman Atong Ang was mentioned in earlier hearings, but Dela Rosa said claims lacked solid evidence. A few weeks ago, whistleblower Julie "Alyas Totoy/Dondon" Patidongan revealed that Ang and his former partner Gretchen Baretto was involved in the case.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) previously placed 15 police officers under restrictive custody over possible involvement, though no formal charges have been filed.
Ang has already countered Patidongan and has filed multiple complaints for tagging him in the missing sabungeros case.
