Due to recent calamities affecting various parts of the country, the House of Representatives has made adjustments to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), scheduled for Monday, July 28, 2025.
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco issued a memorandum detailing modifications to the SONA program in response to the ongoing effects of natural disasters. According to a report by DZRH News reporter Milky Rigonan, one major change is the cancellation of the traditional red carpet ceremony that usually precedes the president's address. "This year, prior to the President's SONA, there will be no red carpet pomp," Velasco said.
Despite the inclement weather, the physical gathering for the SONA will proceed as planned. House spokesperson Princess Abante confirmed that the event will still take place at the Batasang Pambansa following the opening of the First Regular Session of the 20th Congress.
President Marcos is expected to outline his administration's accomplishments, current priorities, and plans moving forward, in light of the challenges posed by the recent disasters.
