The lawyer's driver's license has been permanently revoked by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), barring her from driving for life after an incident with a traffic enforcer in Kawit, Cavite.
Traffic enforcer Michael Trajico said the lawyer struck him while he was on duty, forcing him to cling to the car hood for nearly 15 minutes.
In an exclusive interview on DZRH's Damdaming Bayan, Dizon emphasized that major violations should be publicly exposed as a lesson. "Siguro iyong mga ganitong grabeng violation ay dapat talaga ipahiya na natin ito publicly para matuto na itong mga kababayan natin. So, ito ang pinag-aaralan natin ngayon pero only for mga mabibigat na violation," he said.
Dizon also criticized the driver's arrogance. "Nagyayabang pa itong driver na kesyo abogado siya. Kung abogado ka, mananagasa ka ba ng enforcer? Okay, since abogado ka, harapin mo itong mga parating sa 'yo," he said.
He also highlighted the serious consequences for violators."'Pag hindi sumunod sa batas, kayang-kayang tanggalin ng gobyerno ang lisensya n'yo. Either temporarily, o sa kaso ng grabeng violators, habambuhay kayong hindi makaka-maneho, at maaari rin kayong kasuhan," Dizon added.
In the past six months, the DOTr has issued 2,008 show-cause orders and revoked 420 licenses for traffic violations. This follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s directive to strictly punish errant drivers, according to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
