Bird causes power outage in California, affecting more than 14,000 residents

A power outage occurred in Eastern San Diego County, California that has affected more than 14,000 residents due to a bird stuck in substation equipment.
San Diego Gas & Electric said that the outage happened at around 8:40 a.m. last Wednesday, and it has affected the following areas; Lake Murray, Mission Gorge, Sycamore Canyon, La Mesa, Fletcher Hills, El Cajon , Grantville, Allied Gardens, Del Cerro, Rolando, College Area, Kensington, and Talmadge.
The said power outage lasted for more than 90 minutes after a bird collided with electrical equipment in La Mesa, and the power was restored by 10:10 a.m., according to the officials.
Meanwhile, the electric company was not able to identify the type of bird that has caused the power outage. (KBAPI)
