Instead of having a birthday cake and a song, a man in Nebraska celebrated his 60th by paddling a giant, hollowed-out pumpkin in the Missouri River.
Duane Hansen paddled an 846-pound pumpkin which he dubbed "Berta" for 38 miles from Bellevue's public boat docks to Nebraska City for 11 hours, according to the Facebook post by the City of Bellevue, Nebraska.
"Mr. Hansen is a long-time Nebraska resident who enjoys growing large pumpkins, gourds, and other vegetables as a hobby. He came up with this idea when visiting Ohio and seeing another person attempt to set this record which is currently right around 30 miles," the post stated.
Hansen said that he aims to break the Guinness World record for longest journey by pumpkin boat which is currently set by Rick Swenson from North Dakota with a 25.5 miles travel.
Meanwhile, photos and other needed documents have been submitted to Guinness World Records for Hansen's official recognition. (KBAPI)
