LAOAG CITY – Work in government offices and classes in all levels in public schools in Ilocos Norte are suspended Monday due to inclement weather brought about by Typhoon Karding (international name Noru).
In a statement, Ilocos Norte Gov. Matthew Joseph Manotoc said work in private companies and classes in private schools are left to the discretion of their respective heads.
As of Monday morning, Ilocos Norte towns under Signal No. 1 have de-escalated, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) but the public is still advised to take necessary actions in case of heavy rains, flash floods and landslides.
In Pagudpud town, the Manila North Road covering its kilometer 578+800 along sitio Banquero in Barangay Pancian is still temporarily closed due to a landslide.
"Road clearing operation is ongoing," said in a situational report posted on the official Facebook page of the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Ilocos Region on Monday morning.
Provincial veterinarian Loida Valenzuela also called on livestock owners to secure their animals by bringing them to safer ground with enough water and food supply to last for three days or more.
"Aim to protect and keep your livestock – your livelihood, as you keep yourself and your family safe," Valenzuela said. (PNA)
